Mitigation and Prevention work hand in hand to reduce both the likelihood and long-term impact of disasters. Sunset Bluff Emergency Management Division delivers integrated solutions that strengthen resilience, safeguard infrastructure, and protect lives before an incident occurs. Our services include Wildfire Risk and Insurance Compliance Assessments, Community Wildfire Resilience Assessments for Homeowners Association (HOAs), Tribal, and local partners, and Hazard Mitigation Planning with FEMA grant support: Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP), Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC), Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG). We conduct Wildlife Urban Interface (WUI) Risk Analysis, Defensible Space Planning, and infrastructure assessments for utilities, transportation, and communications lifelines.
Prevention services expand this foundation through Threat and Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments (THIRA), Vulnerability Analysis, and Safety Program Audits aligned with OSHA, NFPA, and FEMA standards. Additional capabilities include Critical Infrastructure Protection Planning, Early Warning System Integration using AI, GIS, and sensor networks, Business Continuity Planning, and public education campaigns promoting safer behaviors and informed preparedness.
